The first visual of the game was released on Aug, depicting a young character with short black hair (later confirmed to be the male default player character, Max) overlooking a foggy, moody scene. A Kickstarter campaign for My Time at Sandrock launched in October 2020. In October 2019, the purported Sandrock DLC was confirmed to not be a DLC at all, but rather a new game. ![]() Later, the possibility of having one or more games set in the Portia universe was mentioned by developers on the Steam forums and the Steam profile page of the developer Loah mentioned My Time at Sandrock by name. No official news about it was announced and few details were given at the time. Despite this, a multiplayer Sandrock DLC was mentioned since early 2018 in various developer comments on Steam. More languages will be supported in Early Access.ĭuring My Time at Portia's extended Kickstarter campaign, a DLC set in Sandrock was listed as the ultimate stretch goal, but this goal was not reached. The demo and beta version are both only available in Chinese and English. Some months after Early Access ends and Sandrock officially releases on PC, it will launch on the Nintendo Switch, Microsoft Xbox One, and Sony PlayStation 4 and 5.Ī Mac release is not currently planned, though it is a possibility more information regarding a Mac version may be given closer to the official release of the game. In addition, Sandrock runs on Steam Deck, tested by Pathea. It is technically possible for Sandrock to run on Windows 7, though Windows 7 is not officially supported. The mechanics are better, the QoL changes that were made are stellar, the art is better, the storytelling is better, and I adore the NPCs.The game will first be available on Windows 10 PCs via Steam, Epic Games, and WeGame. That said, if you *do* wind up liking Portia, I definitely think you should snap up Sandrock at its EA price while you can. On top of that? Nexus has a ton of fun mods for Portia that will make repeated play-throughs even better. I far prefer the romance options in Sandrock, but there are some lovely NPCs in Portia, and the dating/romance/marriage mechanic is fully implemented. I have hundreds of hours on Portia - it's a fantastic game with a lot of things to do and a lot of heart. Just remember to grab Sandrock before it's fully released, since it will be priced higher after EA is over. Instead of waiting for updates to the game, playing Portia should hold you over till Sandrock is done (or close to done). It'll also give you a good idea if you'll even like this type of game in the first place. However, Portia is still a really fun game and deserves to be experienced at least once. The stories, what are there, are written better too. Sandrock just feels better to me and more polished. Its an actually finished game so you know what you are getting. ![]() Originally posted by Kishero:Right now? Portia without a doubt. Watch some streams see how you like the NPCs in both games first as well. Go to store page, find Sandrock and click 'Follow' then go to Portia and click 'buy' right now. Quests are about the same 'the town needs a thing, build it' or 'something dangerous is near and the civil corps are already thin stretched' Romances, its really impossible to say because they are barely implemented at this stage (Comes in august with weddings not till around December). Its an actually finished game so you know what you are getting.Īlso while its mechanics are less polished, its a game that ( at present, see above, in my opinion) does a much better job of connecting you to the world and its central town.
